Mustique Blues Festival 2023
The Mustique Blues festival entered its 28th year with a blast as Basil's hosted its busiest festival ever with record numbers for the opening and closing nights of the Festival. In total, the two week festival raised almost $100,000 EC Dollars for the Basil Charles Educational Trust.
The Festival started by welcoming back Ian Siegel after a 1 year hiatus, who led the musicians alongside Murali Coryell & Mustique Blues veterans Eliza Neals, JC Smith, Matt Gest, Ken “Blues Boss” Wayne and Jeff Walker as well as two newcomers, Daniel Rabinovitz blasting out hits on the trumpet and Peter O'Brien rocking out on the drums.
This was the second year of a new format mixing between late night blues jump ups and sunset sessions which worked perfectly in keeping it fresh and meaning those that didn’t feel like being awake in the early hours were still able to get their full blues fix.
Week two, took the show on the road with a gig in St Vincent and straight from there to the latest addition “Macaroni Blues” under a full moon the party carried on to Macaroni beach with dancing on the sand and the Basils team serving up drinks and late night snacks into the early hours.
The Last few nights of the festival saw some local and international talent joining the fray, Vincentian Soca artiste’ Dynamite joined for a session as well as some incredibly talented Vincentian singers and musicians, Matt Clifford of the rolling stones even jumped up on the last night to send Mustique off on a high.
The 2024 Blues Festival dates have been announced and will start on the 24th January until the 7th of February. Please contact Basil's Bar or check on www.basilsbar.com for more information.
